“That’s the funny thing about trying to escape. You never really can. Maybe temporarily, but not completely.” — Jennifer L. Armentrout
The warm weather has provided a mental escape from stuff that “nags” at me. And I’m forever grateful. Some of my things that “nag” are:
- Meal planning
- Continuation of downsizing
- Aspirational projects
- More laundry
- Even more downsizing
- Re-starting an exercise plan
And there’s so much truth to the fact that you can only temporarily escape. The responsibilities of daily life just keep coming right back around. However, I don’t find it too great a fault that just because the weather is nice, that I’ve conveniently rearranged my priorities. Any time spent outside is some time well spent. I touched upon that here.
Perhaps we all have things that tend to nag at us. We know they need to be done, and there are some days we just say, “You know what? No. Taking some time to enjoy a moment, or two, or ten is much more important. That other stuff will eventually get done.” That’s a fairly decent self-care mantra.
What things nag at you? How do you respond? Are you remembering to take some time for yourself today? Have you stepped outside and really taken in the fact that it’s spring? Trees and flowers are abloom, and oh, how wonderful that truly is.
Right now, it seems as though I can’t get myself to go back inside to do some much needed chores. Let them nag at me some more. It’s too awesome outside.
